Suspicion as the management of Voice of the Nile Fm situated in Pacuawi, Moyo Sub-County, Moyo District is in deep sorrow investigating a circumstance under which self proclaimed UCC staff came with Police & Army officers as they demanded the station manager to have an access to the technical room. According to our sources on ground, He did it exactly as said by the unknown men.
Transmitter is a set of equipment used to generate and transmit electromagnetic waves carrying messages or signals, especially those of radio or television. Where listeners call in to interact & enjoy their voices with presenters from different locations.
According to eye witnesses, the UCC team came with their vehicle packed with Police & Army officers enforced their powers to move away with the transmitter leaving Von fm to be off air until further notice.
As the station manager & programs manager were tasked by the officers to call their director of the station to parade to UCC headquarters Office in Kampala.
The locals within the area attributed the the removal of the transmitter to the intimidation of the station manager & Programs manager including the marketing manager who was on ground.
A member of the area states, " UCC should have first notify the station manager before they could come on ground".
Von Fm is a commercial Radio station being operating on the frequency of 106.1 Fm in Westnile District of Moyo in Uganda for more than seven years.
However, more than five staff of Von Fm had laid down their tools within a period of one month over delayed Salary before the incident, according to our reporters on ground, among them are the famous staff like "Lulu Man, Professor senior Kanda Dee, Muktar Vidal a sports analyst, Claudia etc.
The entire Moyo District is left with the only unique Community Radio Station known as Radio Pacis operating on the frequency of 104.8 Fm which has several other frequencies of 90.9 Fm & 94.5 Fm in Arua, 101.4 in Gulu & 104.8fm in Moyo with their website www.radiopacis.org for online listening.
