The chief magistrate’s court in Moyo district has remanded a Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) officer following allegations on defilement and aggravated trafficking of children.
The accused was prosecuted before magistrate grade (i) his worship Buhungiro Benjamin on 3rd, 10. 2024. He was remanded & tasked to appear in court on 30th, 2024 before the chief magistrate and take plea.
However, It’s alleged that the accused Lagu Robert 35 years a UPDF officer attached to Lugazi military Engineering Brigade transferred a 16yrs old victim by means of deception to engage the victim in sexual exploitation and also had sexual intercourse with her which happened in pamoju west village, Aluru Sub County, in Moyo district.
He also said that both offences attract a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and therefore can only be tried by the chief magistrate.
