People of Madi have finished Shea butter trees, Despite government's campaign

Panic in Madi okollo and parts of Arua district as 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 species rapidly disappears due to continuous cutting of trees for charcoal burning.

Vitellaria paradox which is commonly known as 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞  is a unique tree species which is only found in Savana areas of Africa and majorly in Uganda, Senegal and Ethiopia.

In Uganda it's only found in the northern part of the country, particularly in westnile subregion, in the districts of Madi okollo, Yumbe, moyo, Adjumani and in some parts of Arua district.

However, this fruit and oil producing tree is at the verge of getting finished in Madi okollo district, Also in  Arivu and ocoko sub-county's  of Arua district respectively as a result of mass tree cutting in the quest of charcoal.

Despite the efforts and regulations being put in by the local government and the responsible stakeholders to curb the tree cutting in Madi okollo district, the locals are still paying death ears to the leaders preaching about the disadvantages of tree cutting to people and the environment.

Mr 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝 one of the activists and a resident of Madi okollo district said he won't get tired of preaching the side effects of cutting trees for charcoal burning so that people will stop cutting down trees, most especially 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 which is only found in westnile and in the districts of Madi okollo, moyo, Yumbe Adjumani and in Some Eastern parts of Uganda.
