Queen Abawo Benitah Annet, from Koboko District was crowned as the Miss Tourism Westnile 2023/2024 at about 17:00 hours.
This crowning took place on a beautiful Sunday Morning at Vintage Lounge in Adjumani District Which is determined to become a municipality a few years to come with the greatest population in the Madi sub-region hence there was massive turn up.Meanwhile, the First runner-up was Lenia Lisa Terisa, from Arua City.Second runner up Ariye Joy, from Maracha District.
The District Chairman of Moyo who doubles as the Chairman for LC5 Chairpersons & Mayor's of West Nile Region, Mr.Anyama Williams thanked the Event organizers.
He urged the organizers to be in touch with them as the leaders to promote talent, he recited a young boy in Arua called Larry who won two Golden medals in Swimming & as a result they're organizing the first sports convention in the region on the 12th of August.
He expressed his disappointment of last year's Miss Tourism Westnile.
He remarks , "I would like to express my gratitude this year we have a candidate in Moyo meanwhile last year Moyo was embarrassed as a District because we had the unveiling here but no candidate was picked from Moyo otherwise i was going to suspend the District Tourism Officer". He added that great things are coming on Thursday as he informed everybody during his speech that on Thursday next week, they are receiving the delegation from African Development Bank for final apprisal of Laropi-Umi Bridge Construction & Laropi-Afoji Jale Road. They will meet stake holders in Laropi, OPM & UNHCR Sub-Office in Moyo & finally have a meeting in Moyo People's Hull.
However, Hon. Aleru Tom Aza the Mp representing Moyo District during his speech on the unveiling day at Penthouse Inn Moyo, thanked the promoters for promoting talents in Westnile & urged the event organizers to continue with the spirit of promoting talents.
He narrated a historical event of Miss Uganda between 1960-1963 as Hon.Cecilia Ogwal Atim Women Member of Parliament for Dokolo & Hon.Oguzuli MP Maracha was their Mr.Arua between 2002-2004.
He urges that, " Can we all go out & promote tourism since we have the potentials, River Nile is there, Mountain Otce as we have all the Physical Features & i thanked the Director of Pent House Inn Moyo".
Mrs.Amel Elizabeth, the Tourism Officer Obongi District, lamented that every one should promote tourism by visiting the physical features like Zoka Forest, River Nile, Mountain Otce & Small highlands in Obongi District etc. She deeply expressed her apologies & requested members to keep calm as they were unable to have contestants from All the Westnile Districts and promised these shall improve next year.
