Benon Enze is an Ugandan Afro-fusion artist from the Westnile district of Arua. Born and raised in Arua, Benon’s life in entertainment started as a local radio host in 2016. He would later move to Kampala to focus on studies until 2019 when he started focusing on music.
During the Covid 2019 lockdown, Benon developed his musical skills through a home studio that he and his friends operated to earn a living within Kampala. He would go on to release his first single “Anyira Ma Day” in 2020. This song introduced him to the streets and the youthful lifestyle of urban Arua.
With follow-up singles like “Cikili” and “Aziyo” that Benon dropped while living in Kampala, Benon felt his music was not getting grounds as he expected; a disconnect that he felt could only be addressed if he was closer to his music target audience in Arua and Westnile at Large. He decided to fully settle in Arua in 2022 where he dropped his fourth single “Arua City” that pays tribute to his hometown.
Arua city gave Benon Enze the biggest exposure in Westnile music scene. Gaining massive radio airplay and streams, “Arua City” is regarded as the breakthrough song for Enze. “Arua City” was followed by “Rewind” and later “Anyira Ma Day Remix” where he recruited fellow Westnile artists Loveson Controlla and LMB Ragz on.
Benon Enze’s Latest single is “Ma Agi” translated as “My friend/buddy”’ Ma Agi is a heavy dancehall song that encourages unity amongst the community. Benon is quoted as saying “he wants his music to be able to teach while you can dance it” and indeed with “Ma Agi” all that is well packaged in it.
Benon Enze is inspired musically by his hometown music icons “Ghetto Boys”. He also looks up to artists like Burna Boy and Kanye West
