FILM REVIEW: “Across Mt. Wati” Redefines West Nile Film Industry.
“Across Mt. Wati” a groundbreaking film, made a remarkable debut on November 2, 2024, at Tropical Suites Hotel in Arua City, earning a five-star rating from film enthusiasts for its engaging story and talented cast.
The film, produced by Asiimwe Anthen of AAnthen Productions and directed by Avas Ronald, tells the story of Edema Patrick, a local politician played by Opingopi Yusuf Andabati. Edema’s inner turmoil as he grapples with the consequences of his past, specifically a sexual encounter with a mentally ill woman, portrayed by Letasi Hope, that leads to pregnancy. Accusations from Tabuga Rahuman, played by Aliku Hakim(Kimnazz), a political rival amplify his struggles and challenge his reputation which Edema can only restore by travelling across Mt Wati.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the West Nile region, “Across Mt. Wati” not only tells a gripping tale but also celebrates the rich culture of the Lugbara people.
